Where are you today? What chatter keeps going in circles in your head? Whether you think you can or you can’t is what your reality will be. So what are affirmations and how can they help you to propel forward?
Affirmations are the things you think and say to yourself. Be aware, that when you have self doubt, or beat yourself up, those negative thoughts are affirmations as well. So how do we turn the chatter towards positive thinking?
Daily repetition of uplifting thoughts, a gratitude journal, counting your blessings, just smiling can help with your attitude adjustment. Your brain will recognize what you tell yourself. It takes time to rewire. Be kind to yourself as you go through this process. Let go of what your old story is and create a new one. Eventually, it will just be what you do.
Remember: Your thoughts become your feelings which become your actions. How do you view your life? I remember a time when I had put on some significant weight. I would walk past a mirror, look at a photo (if I dared to take one) and berated myself for letting myself go. Then a wise friend said, “Embrace where you are in your life today. You have the power to change things.”
That was a kick in my butt moment. Perhaps you have been in those shoes. So how do you handle how you talk to yourself? If a friend complained or berated themselves, wouldn’t you say kind things? If we talked to ourselves the way we talk to others, would that make a difference in your life?
Love who you are, at this moment. Keep it simple…think happy thoughts. You can do this if you set your mind to it. It is always about choice. Perhaps you have not thought of yourself as a negative person, so listen to what you think, and say to yourself. Laser focus…start today…be in the now…you can do this. You must give yourself to to reboot. Be consistent and take 5 minutes a day to empower who you are. Be present to yourself, not just a care-taker for everyone else. Be gentle and grow. I know you can.
